You of all people Pete, should know thats not going to happen anytime soon, nor should it. We are in too deep right now to just bring them all home. I'm all for bringing them home over time, when things are right, but it ain't right just yet... Now get back to work! Originally posted by SVT PETE: Bring em home, Dubya, bring our boys home.

i was talking with a friend of mine about the "war" the other night. He came out and said something like "Well haven't we only lost like 100 soldiers?" It struck me then how little people actually know about what's going on over there. MAybe it's just me, but I personally don't see very much about IRAQ in the papers or anything to keep people aware that our boys are over there, fighting, and dying every day. He didn't believe me when I told him the number was closer to 1000. I think alot of people think this war is a walk in the park when it's really not. I hate to say it but it seems like a small scale vietnam. I HOPE it does not escalate to the point vietnam did.
To all our soldiers, home and abroad, and their families. Thank you! We all want them to come home just as bad as you do.

People see only what they want to see. I see coverage in every newscast and a link on the front page of most every news site I visit. Is it top billing? Of course not. Should it be? Good question.

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

A small scale Vietnam...only minor differences are that in Vietnam they lost 40X that number and we lost the fight.
We WILL achieve our goals in Iraq. High probability that this action will place a free and "semi" democratic state on the border of Iran that along with similar changes in Afganistan/Pakistan will apply more pressure for broad reform in the mideast (Iran in particular) then ANY diplomatic action we could take.. No more mass murders, no more shelter for terrorists.
This will work people...unless we failed to learn the lesson on Vietnam, namely letting popular oppinion prohibit the military from doing what it needs to do to win.

The general population has a very short attention span. They stopped caring to see news about Iraq a long time ago.

i'll continue to keep our friends and family serving in every part of the world in our prayers. rip to the ones that have made the ultimate sacrifice performing their duties. i wouldn't draw a close comparison, but in modern day terms iraq is going the route of a small scale vietnam.

when? do we stay until we've lost 40k? <- sarcasm. but our plan doesn't seem to be working.

that's not the reason we lost/withdrew from vietnam. we lost and left because of miscalculations that caused extreme casualties and failure to devise a realistic plan to win peace. very similar to iraq...
