I have a Pacifica right now. I had slim pickings on the exact model, but I'll only have it for 6 months. I think other colors (Inferno Red/tan interior) look better, but I really like the vehicle. Lots of room for 4 adults. Rides great. I get about 20mpg in mixed city/highway. At MSRP, they are a ripoff. But, there is $5k rebate on 2004 models plus another $1k if you finance through Chrysler financial. $10-11k off MSRP is standard around here for new off the lot. $23k for a Pacifica with a few selected options isn't bad for its content IMHO. Tranny is unwilling to downshift at times, but the Autostick is better than I expected. Skip the AWD as it adds weight, drivetrain losses, and more fuel consumption. Worth a test drive IMHO.

Jeep Liberty Limited -kinda small, but I did sit in one.... seems nice enough, but like all mini-suvs eh.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited -reliability and repair issues. -I'd lean more towards the regular cherokee. 4.0L
Subaru Legacy Outback Subaru Forester XS or XT -Subarus, nice, get one with a warranty, repairs are expensive(as are most vehicles. -Plan on buying snow tires, the stock tires blow. with my last job I was able to drive a brand new one 40miles on the ticker...I put 500 more on it and traction with brand new stock tires was scary....
I'm currently leaning towards a regular cherokee for myself. My brother in law has a 95 4runner, but it really is a truck.

How about a Suzuki XL-7
2.7 Liter DOHC V-6, 185 HP
Well equipped. Nice interior. Third row seating if you need it (I didn't). Chassis construction, not unibody. Part time 4WD (2H, 4H, N, 4L) which I prefer over AWD.
A small SUV on a truck chassis.
I have one and I am very happy with it.
Worth at least a look. Prices are better than the similar sized competition.
My name is Richard. I was a Contouraholic.

I've driven a Grand Caravan for a weekend and the Pacifica drives better. It isn't quite as tall as a minivan and feels more like a wagon to me, especially in taffic next to larger sedans. Not much higher sitting than them. I don't know if you want the truck feel or not, but the Pacifica rides nothing like our pickup. It pales in utility to a minivan, but worth a dealer visit and test drive.
