Some people fail to make the distinction between a racer and a ricer.

Racer, parts are purely functional with minimal thought paid to appearance. Whatever truly makes the car faster and is legal in the series will stay.

Ricer, garishness purely for appearances sake. True function is secondary or even non-existant.

The funny part is, a ricer will often make the same excuses a true racer will for his expenditures "But its lighter" "It gives me downforce" etc etc.

That Enzo pic at the beginning of the thread is ultra-tacky, and I would be sickened by the sight of it, were it actually real; thank god no Enzo owner would ever subject his car to that.

The rest of the pics on the hand, the Corvette, the Porsche 911, and the Murceilago, they are all designed with pure function in mind, two of them pure race cars, and the third designed to be a race car thinly veiled in street legal trim.

by that rationale, this would be a ricer. (purely for appearances sake)

So, the non-functional wing on the old Countach...

What class does that fall into?

Money can't buy good taste.

Although, you probably have to sign a contract before you are allowed to own an Enzo.

oh you gotta do a lot more than that. prospective buyers had to meet specific criteria and be pre-approved by home office first. if i can remember correctly, here are some of the criteria:
1. previously owned an f50 and f40
2. be personally recommended by a renowned ferrari dealer
3. demonstrate good faith "proof" that you are not buying the car just to resell it.

can't remember anything else....anyone?
