Thank God we have conservative kooks like you and Packrat to help us keep it all straight!

I've accepted it. I've also realized I can be a democrat and vote republican if our candidate is a douche. Sometimes it's better to vote for the candidate, not the candidate.

Last time I checked the Senate was just a bit higher than a School Board...

packrat, what do you do for a living?
I work.
Signature says Wall-Mart cashier. Somehow that doesnâ??t seem like a good fit for someone so intelligent and so corrosive, but there you have it. College students usually pick work based more on flexible hours and availability thenâ?¦ well, any other factor! Packrat does obviously have a hell of a lot of free time on his hands to spend here agitating in common interests.
When I was a physics student I worked for Battelle Science and Technology in Columbus Ohioâ??? for free! I was desperate for real laboratory experience and did not need the money. Battelle was analyzing reactor containment structural materials from a decommissioned nuclear reactor. Big scare in those days about unexpectedly high levels of radiation-induced embrittlment (fears of reactor containment vessels shattering like glass). Computers were a hell of a lot different than now - mainframes in dedicated facilities. I saved significant time and effort by running various â??mainframeâ? analysis codes on an early type of IBM PC with an 8088 processor â??? a dual floppy drive PC with a text only green monitor. Cost around $10,000 (no kidding) from IBM! Endless hours entering and modifying FORTRAN code and data from printouts â??? slave labor for a resume entry and a few college credit hours.

Yeah because jobs are just so easy to find here in NM. Ask Ken (CRZYDRIVER) how long it took him to find one. The only two things I have experience in is truck driving and filling vending machines and without a CDL, I'm basically SOL for a driving job. One's job shouldn't be a indicator of one's intelligence. I knew many truck drivers with masters degrees that had no other choice than to hit the road because the pool of jobs for them in their field was few and far between.

I work the nightshift, full time I might add (40+ hrs), leaving me all day to "agitate".

I thought you were a college student. What was your major in college? Did you graduate?

How can you tell me, he has an eleven-point lead? There is a HUGE movement to get him out of there.
NYC is about 80% democrat...it is RARE to see a Republican convention there. THAT is why they had big numbers. Well, that and did you see some of the groups that came to oppose Bush (& support Kerry). "Dikes on bikes", a group of gay men that like to dress as nuns, a group that centers it's life around pot smoking, and a few hundred thousand hippies. Quite a show. As was Kerry's rediculous speech after the convention...shaking his finger, dropping incoherent references. He looked, aggitated...
While I agree, I think the 11% gap will shrink some, perhaps back to margin of error, It is clear things were turning against Kerry before RNC. Bush hit 51% approval the week before...Kerry got zero bounce from the DNC convention...the swift boat controversy.
And now, they are going to shread his senate record.. Kerry gets to deal with another 200,000 jobs created (last month + revised upward estimates of the 2 months before - for a total of 1.7 million new jobs created since the recession/WTC bottom out in 2002). Health care...Bush talking about malpractice reform which will resonate in some of the swing states (W. Va for example where OB care is pretty much wiped out by malpractice premiums..patients cone to Virginia!). While Edwards is the king of southern malpractice suits! Bush is out in front now on intell reform while Edwards/Kerry have only weak performances (failed senate oversight responsibility) and historical intell budget slashing proposals to run with. They want to raise taxes on "the rich" but this will be a tough sell to small business that fall into this catagory and are competing against Bush's tax simplification strategy (again being lawyers is a problem). All this and the bad hurricane season and rampant Al Queda problems in Russia (who along with Spain, & France chose the "other road" in dealing with militant islam) is taking the media away from their little dog and poney road show!
While 2 months is a fairly long time, the next 4 weeks is CRITICAL for both campaigns. It will not be getting any easier for Kerry going forward...
