OK, another spun bearing story (back in Feb at 45K) and finally decided to do something with the car, '99 CSVT. The car will remain naturally aspirated and my only real concern is future reliabilty (oiling- my Hwy 49 commute most likely killed the car, like who wants to deal with this crap in ANOTHER 50K?).
New 3.0 short block seems the way to go, basically $700 or so plus gaskets, proper oil pan/ windage tray, etc. Basically the cheapest route though I wonder if I should go 3.0 heads for the added security of the additional oil drain? Sorry, my brain has begun hurting with all the browsing through the various posts and I can't read no more!- so what advantage besides the additional oil drain, and at what cost? What performance advantage?

I don't know about you, but even with people saying that oiling isn't the issue, which while I don't have the knowledge, I'd still say it is... I am considering the Accusump to prevent any chance/reduce any chance of a oiling issue.
I'd like to do 3.0 block with 2.5SVT top, but if I can't find a svt top I'll be going just regular... with my return system, I'd rather not mess around with alot of customization... who knows... it might be a year project for me.... LOL.

Thanks for your thoughts Eric. Just so happens my tour spent her first year in Fort Collins! Now that I am where I am, I'm almost positive it is an oiling issue and the fairly quick turns through the canyon every day for 2 1/2 years and 30,000 miles, though I suspect it IS possible the engine itself is designed poorly OR poor production.

Got it LBR but system isn't indicating my sending any of them (3) so I don't know if you got any of them. What I said was I'll give it some condsideration though I was prepaing to do it myself- I just about finished renovating my 3 car garage with white semi-gloss paint and 24 T10 flourescents for that express purpose (well, that and detailing my vehicles). '97 Sportster like brand new (3500 miles) up for sale soon for around 6K- I'm open for bartering!
Oh, I am also set on a brand new 3.0 shortblock but haven't decvided if I want to spend the extra bucks for new or low milage rblt heads P&P'ed. I should also be putting in a new clutch as well as other things while everything i out and apart.

I don't know this from experience, but alot of people seem to swear by those clevite bearings, too.. might wanna check those out.

Right on, this is what you want to do since you have concerns with oiling issues. And replacing clutch/flywheel/throw-out-bearing is a GREAT idea since you'll have access to it.
