....95-97 diff gears wer 'cut' as conventional gears...after that they went smaller gear teeth ,less meaty and have the appearence of 'moulded'/sintered gears....not so on the 99-00 diff...I have don a number of those with chewed up diff gears,they did not go back to the 95-97 type...in fact I have a 2000 svt(with later tower from new) and 2001 focus trans in the shop right now,both have the weak type gears and both have 'metal worm'!......




The whole point is that diff breakage is wway less common in the pre98's - no one but you said it COULDN'T happen, just as far as we know it hadn't. Now that mbb has spoken up I know of one that did break.

If the pre 98 diff is my Dad, and the 98diff is kremits dad, and the quaife is Y2K's dad then Y2k's dad could beat up my dad and my dad could beat up kremits dad (and kremits dad would just kick kremits ass just for being himself )
