After talking to a bunch of other mechanics and dealerships and LOTS of the boards here (damn the "feature" of not being able to search ALL forums...) I think I've narrowed the problem down. I'm pretty positive that the solenoid on the starter is on its way out. Me and a buddy are gonna swap the starter this weekend and hopefully the problems are solved

So next on tap is two things:

1. Window tinting. Anyone in SLC have a suggestion where to go? My bro did his at some place on 45th and State, but I don't know what they charge yet.

2. Time for exhaust fun! I found a system that's similar to what I'm looking for with CTA in Canada. Link here:

CTA Motorsports

I'm looking at the "Dual Exhaust System 1". That's a good price range for me. Of course, shipping from the Great White North could be pricy. Anyone got any suggestions on this?

search for justmagnaflow.com. i did a post on them about 2 months ago. i have a very similar system to system one (2.5" with magnaflows right?) and spent $475 total (225 for the muffs and res., and 250 for the install). a great sounding system.

about the tint -

There is a guy here in UT county that is VERY VERY good - when you roll down the windows you cant even see a line - its amazing. He charge my buddy with a focus 130 IIRC so a sedan prob be around 150. He is soo good that they little black dots around the window are even covered evenly with no bubbles.

Ill get more info - as Im looking to poss tint my MSP

Horse,

Let me know when you have more info. Where in Utah County is he? I've heard there's a guy near East Bay in Provo that is excellent as well. Did my buddy's Diamante real nice.

I got mine done (on the Contour) by Untouchables in Utah County. They did a great job and I would recommend them. It cost me about $190 after taxes.

And I also got the starter swapped out on the SVT on Labor Day. Got my buddy to help, so the "labor" cost was a half a tank of gas to go down to Provo. And best of all, he was the one that burned his hands trying to pull the thing out.

Strange where Ford puts the starter on those cars though. It would be tough to find a less convenient place to put it. We had to dismantle the intake, filter, and several hoses and then still do a lot of twisting, turning, and pulling. But what's done is done, let's hope this fixes things...
