not entirely true for the tour, since the intake system is all of 18" long if that, at least i dont think this is true

Explain to me how it lowers acceleration when my friend gained 7-8 HP when he put a GMK cold air intake with exhaust on the dyno??? He didn;t lose and HP at any part of the power band.....So how do you figure it is a top end mod, and you get slower acceleration???

Lupe

(He already had exahsut, he just saw a 7-8 (ill have to ask himagain) HP over the stock exahust with the SVT throttle body and and UIM.)

dynos read the peak hp in th upper rpm range high rpm of course he saw more power in his power band hp an torque are not the same thing less tourqu from lower velocity in low rpm = slower acceloration

Im aware of that...but he saw no power loss period...torque or HP.....at anywhere in the RPM range.

He actaul gaind a little torque too....how much i do not remember...so again i ask, how can you lose acelleration????

actually dynos read both torque and hp, and not at just the upper rpm they read it from around idle to redline

Also, Grand Master Kahn of NECO who makes the GMK cold air intakes, has seen nice Hp and torque gains witht he use of his CAI on SVT 3 liter hybrid's...i do not have any of hois dyno graphs, but im sure he can provided them for you.

grandmasterkhan is his screen name here..PM him, im sure hed be glad to give you the infomation.

have him put the stock exhaust and intake on run a base line
then run a base line with just the new intake you wil lose torque in the lower rpm range then put the xhaust on and take of thew intake run another baseline you will gain more from the exhaust mod than the intake but like i said they work bet when modded at the same time. thus your 8 hp incereas across the whole range.

I dont want to start any arguments it is possible that all of my reading hotrod, import tuner, popular hotrodding, modified and other mags has confused me. just so not to get people upset with gizmo1 this is her brother writing

but you will notice higher top speeds and better mpg on the highway you would be better off drilling 1" holes in the bottom of the air box or the side facing the inner fender
and using a K&N drop in replacement and when you open the intake you will notice more gains if you open the exhaust too .

No where in your post are you comparing the CAI to vehicals with stock exahust systems...maybe you should have made your post a little more clear.....

Someone i talked to in NECO about the GMk when i was doing research about it, told me theres no lose on the duratecs with stock exahust...but some cars do posts losses, the duratec is not one of them.

Though i am inclined to agree with you, that some motors, a CAI will post a lower torque gain or even a slight loss, but the duratec is not one of thoes motors....
