Hi everyone!
Having recently read a whole bunch of performance posts (bulletproof MTX, 3.0l swap, turbo news, etc) I'm having visions of my own "Perfect Driving Machine" - upgraded drivetrain but a COMPLETELY stock exterior, except possibly slightly wider tires.
Current status - '98 CSVT, stock, pristene condition @ 57,500 miles.
Potential mod list: PHASE 1: 1. T Haines "Bulletproof MTX75" with ugraded flywheel & Quaife (or Torsen) 2. New shoes
PHASE 2: 1. Chris Hightower turbo on stock 2.5 Duratec (those 3.0 swaps look too expensive for the gain!) 2. Exhaust (catback or including cats?)
What's missing from the list? What other work would YOU do, if you had the $$ to do it? And what do you think the total bill would be, not including the tranportation to & from Terry's shop?

nobody has mated 2 Duratecs together - you could have the first 6L Duratec V-12!!! although, your car would need a snout like a '60s Jaguar

Alright, I'll just go out and get a rear ended Aston Martin to do an engine swap! That'd be a wide car!!

Not so fast...... History lesson (sorry cant resist !) On sept 23 1995,the first V12 6.0L burst into life! Yes it was 2X3.0 V6 Blocks welded together,it was fitted in the Ford 'Indigo' concept car,3 more engines were built in 1996,when he was at Ford, Bernard Ibrahim was the project leader,he now works for Riccardo in Mi,during that time of the V12 development many OEM's supplied prototype parts for the V12(later to be Aston-Martin V12) one of those companys was Benteler in Grand Rapids, who make the existing 2.5 Duratec exhaust manifolds, project engineer at Benteler at that time for the V12 manifolds was....you guessed it ....me! Small world eh!

First V12 used in the GT90 was made from two Romeo (modular 4.6) V8's with a pair of cylinders chopped off each block. They were "electron beam welded" or whatever. Shortened stroke gave it a displacment of 6L. The second motor to go into that car was indeed the 6L Duratec based motor that Terry speaks of, and that of course was also used in the Indigo concept and the new Aston.
