If people thought it was such a serious issue, why have we continued to go to these restaurants/bars/etc?

If I really thought that second-hand smoke was going to kill me then I would complain to the owner who would then take it upon himself to either allow smoking or not depending on how many people complained.

So what the government is really protecting me from is my own inability to demand what I truly want?
