I don't think the bans are made so much to keep the smokers from smoking (govt making the choice to keep you from smoking and getting lung cancer). I think the bans are made to protect those who don't smoke from second hand smoke inhalation and the problems that arise from that.
Smokers still have the right to smoke, just not near those that choose to keep their lungs cancer free.
Nonsmokers should be able to enjoy the bar/club scene just as much as the smokers.
Occasionally I enjoy coming home stinking of smoke, but only because it's a lasting reminder of the fun I had at the bar/club I attended.
But frankly I'd rather come home smoke free knowing that my lungs are clean, therefore I'm a fan of the smoking bans.
