from what i remember the 4 cyl. was about 1.6 hrs. labor.. so you might be able to do it yourself... the V-6 was like 9 to 12 hrs. labor.. and ford does not allow enough time for the technicians to do the job correctly.... i got a v-6 and am afraid of taking it to the dealer to have it done.. i went to ace hardware store and bought some liquid tape... its a vinyl in a can that you can paint onto the copper wires after seperating then to keep them from shorting out... i did it to several places where i had trouble..like the high presssure cut of switch wiring.. the wires were touching and the a/c unit blew as the switch was bypassed... new valve for $20 and a recharge and seperating the wires to the high pressure switch and some liquid tape on the wires fixed this problem.... the wires going to the
coil packe were bare of insulation... same fix....Map wires bare, same fix... think that is all for now.. hope it last for a few more years until i get rid of this car....ai runs great and the horror stories i hear of people who dont have a problem until they go to the dealer and have all kinds of problems....
