After a search, I still have a few questions. Is the stock rist pin a floating design?
What size are the rod bolts?
Is there any insurance to be had by grinding off the parting line, and polishing the beams on these "sinter forged" sp? rods? What about shot peening them? Are they not as prone to stress risers due to there manufacturing process?
I know no matter what you do they will never equal custom rods, but after 3.0 parts and forged pistons, quaife etc. I'm looking to keep costs down where I can. $200.00 to prep 6 rods isn't sounding too bad if it will help. Any thoughts? Uproarious laughter? Talk to me...

Floating pin,Bolts are M8,dont mess with the rod re polish, grind etc.As a sintred part 'breaking' the outer 'skin' of the PM results in loss of strength and porosity.

May want to consider the V8 SHO "trimetal" bearings at $500-$600 a set if you are tearing down the motor. They may be the weak link.

Thank you both very much.
I must say the $500-$600 price tag for "trimetal" bearings comes as a bit of a shock. Isn't this the same make-up [steel, or tin base, with either copper, or brass overlay I don't recall, followed by I think, "babbit" outer] that clevite 77s used for years? [like 20+] Just as one example.

No, they are 'copper/lead' a la Clevite or Vanderville, the best, allow for crank 'whip' which, dispite other comments, the bottom end of the Duratech does suffer from ,hence a 'billet' crank, IF you are serious!

Are we still talking rod bearings? Forgive my ignorance here, crank "whip" is new to me. It would sound as though you're saying that the factory crank distorts enough at [rare] times to briefly overcome the oil "wedge" between the bearing and the journal. Am I close?
