If thats the 3L shortblock that he sells, yes it works. It works GREAT too! (I've got 5000 miles on mine)

Not to mention bills comes with a 12/12k warranty too...
I am in the "rough" planning stages right now... I really want to
find a donor SVT engine for the hybrid... any votes against using
that vs a regular 2.5?

Why bother with a 2.5L when a 3.0L is the same amount of work, and maybe even cheaper?

You can run a return style setup if you reuse your existing heads (or any non oval prot heads for that matter) and LIM. Just ask others who have done so, a la rkneeshaw3.0

Yap. I beleive you can even use the newer oval-port heads from a 3L and use the SVT cams in them without modification. Your style fuel system only determins the LIM you'll use, or more specifically, the kind of injectors you use with your LIM.

My car has return-style fuel system and I grabbed up a top-feed fuel rail and SVT LIM and picked up the matching orange top-fed 19# injectors from a 98 SVT. Car runs SWEET.

I was in the a similar situation as you. I thought I had rod knock in my 2.5, and knew the motor had to be replaced. A new 3L shortblock from Bill J was so much cheaper than replacing it with another 2.5L. Of course, after all the upgrades that I got with it the cost was about the same as a 2.5L swap, but I have a much faster/fun car though. You can even do it really cheap if you wanted, using your 2.5L heads and cams and stock fuel system if you absolutely had to

Before Greg rips someone head off...

You cannot use the 2.5L UIM/LIM on the oval port heads...
Greg port matched his heads to work with his LIM manifold, thus not needing a 'custom' fuel rail.

The other way is to have an adapter plate to use to mount the LIM on the oval port heads...

Funny you mention that, becuase he ripped my head off last time I said that you couldn't run the split port LIM with the oval port heads. I dunno if anyone is safe from a decapitation from greg!
