I don't think its unreasonable to trust the SAE, either. But what I was trying to point out was that, since I had heard many years ago that putting distilled water in the cooling system was not a good idea, tutmondigo might want to do a more current search to see what the latest info was.
I was not able to find the SAE J814's actual text on the net to see what their paper actually said, but you can go to www.No-Rosion.com/faq.htm/ and see one company's comments about using distilled water in cooling systems.
And please don't do another flush based on my comment. I was only suggesting that everyone should do their research and make their choices.
