The good ol' Jeep Cherokee (XJ)........ they have an awsome 4L that has only a few issues. The valve cover is known to leak, but they revised it later on and there are aftermarket sources for better ones. Other than that, I know of a s%&^ load of them that have made it past 300K with average attention. Don't get it w/ a 2.5L...they suck major monkey sack.

Transfrer cases are usually great, I know I was always fiending for a good NP231 for my ZJ.......though my V8 would've shreaded one, or so many warned me against. They are great, rebuild kits are dirt cheap, 4-1 kits are fairly cheap, IIRC you can twin stick them.

They have Dana 30 and 35 axels. Though, if you lift it to the point where you wheel it much, they may tend to break (35" tires+) axels and diffs. Now ARB makes some kick a$$ed full lockers that takes dana 44 type axels to beef up the Dana 30.

Lift kits and suspension mods are fairly cheap and well established. Skyjacker makes some wicked 6" & 8" lifts for them that are great IMO.

Mopar, offenhouser, borla, and so many more aftermarket comapnies make some great add-on's too.

I could go on and on as I am a Jeep fan to the bone, but needless to say they are the SBC or Civic of the 4X4 world (CJ's, YJ/TJ's have more though). Parts are out there pretty cheap, and usually if you do a little looking around they are actual upgrades.

Thanks for the mind candy.
I am learning more and more about this XJ as the days add up. One thing I am not a fan of is the Miles per gallon it gets.
Need to get a tune up im pretty sure.
Overall I am very pleased with the Jeep so far. It needs tires very bad but other than that tip top shape. errr and the tune up.
Its real nice having the Tour to screw around with in the evening though. It has not hit me yet that I will be getting rid of it. Im sure a week after its gone ill be calling up Chris W., Randy, or other Chris to beg for rides.
