Where are your facts? IIRC, the 1.8T is pratically a bulletproof engine.




Consumer Reports reliability surveys, April 2004... lots of ignition problems in the 1.8T that are not in the V6 or NA 4 cylinder. I read the coil part somewhere else.




Yes, they have quite a massive recall, but on stock internals, a 1.8T that started out putting up 150 hp can easily put up 240 hp or more, with torque to match (or more). That is pretty impressive. Folks with turbo upgrades and exhaust, etc, etc are cranking out 300 hp!!

It's an awesome engine. Kind of buzzy though. I always wanted one until I drove one putting out the 150 hp hooked up to an auto tranny! It needs a chip!
