That's exactly what I mean...with both setups "properly" done, the short ram is superior for more hp. No need for a back to back dyno, just a little knowledge and logic. Once again, if you are pulling ambient air, you can not get any cooler than that, so the temp differences would be.....none. Are you not understanding this concept? Therefore, if a "properly made, perfectly efficient" heat shield blocked 100% of the warm air under the hood, you would be pulling 100% ambient air....chances are that your homemade heatshield was not doing this. Not to mention the length of the intake itself plays a role in the "tuning" of the air flow. If you want an example, look at our V6 intake manifold. Hence you are probably pulling a little more power under peak now, maybe mid range, instead of up top now with the CAI.
