That's a general weight. Pretty accurate though.
My information is a four corner weight balance. Within 1 lb total weight.
This way you can see how removing, adding, and moving parts from different areas changes the overall balance of the car.
Like I said I am a road racing/auto cross guy.
For autocross the best weight balanced setup was Optima in the trunk & normal street trim with a full tank of fuel.
The fuel cell sits at the bottom of the car lowering the center of gravity. Also it is slightly offset to the passengers side to help offset the driver's weight.
It you alter the seating position like I described the weight balance is the best I could get from any setup.
Weight: ~3230lbs
Left: 50.9%
Right: 49.1%
Front: 60.3%
Rear: 39.7%
RL to FR: 49.7%
FL to RR: 50.3%
That's very good weight balance for a FWD car with an above average weight driver.
To be honest I am thinking about weighing my car backwards in the garage to see how level the floor was.
I was level using a 2' carpentry level and water pools on the floor but it would be good to know. I'm just waiting until I refill the tank so it's the same base weight. (I'll weigh it in normal street trim to maintain accuracy & ride height)
Also I plan to weight the wife's Z24 just for fun.

Sometimes you can find a scale that is left on at nights/weekends. I weighed my car before I went to the drag strip and it weighed 2760lb IIRC. And there was more things I COULD remove. With everything I normally have + full tank of gas it's right around 3k.

I wouldn't want to go much "better" than 60/40 for a FWD car. You've gotta leave some weight on the front.
Again, awesome info.

Thanks for the info DemonSVT! Your attention to detail is impressive! I was always curious what your car weighed in at.
I have done some fairly serious weight reduction to my 99 Cougar.
I however have a balance between cosmetics and performance. Trying to maintain a 'show look' while having my car as light as possible.
I have scaled my car to 2680lbs with 1/4 tank of fuel. I still believe with more extensive weight reduction I can weigh my Cougar in at 25xxlbs. Provided I remove the carpet and sound deading materials (in addition to interior panels which are already removed)
Of course I would need to go with smaller wheels and remove the wings west lip kit. (15lb 19" centerlines, and a gutted out cougar make for pretty outside...raw inside lol) I am always looking for great weight reduction ideas. Any tricks you guys may have please let me in on the info!

Greg,
Have you replaced your seats with something a little lighter? The electrics for the stock drivers seat weigh a lot!

Thats some good info. But fyi those drive on scales are not %100 accurate. They can be as much as 15-30lbs off depending on how often they are calibrated. Thats important when doing corner weights. Its best to use as set of race scales(I know not readily available and expensive). Also as you probaly know if you have adjustable coilovers, you can pretty much put the weight were you want in the vehicle. Do you have the acutal corner weights?
