Just for what it's worth...
I just learned to drive stick on my friend's 1.8T Jetta. It's a 3000lb car with a tiny 1.8L engine. Below 2500rpm, the car feels incredibly weak. But after the turbo spools, it just takes off like a bat outta hell, and you can hardly shift it in time (if you're a beginner, like me). Lots of fun...
