I believe the same rule is included in all manufacturers' warranties. Though I know some dealers will let you get by with it (as long as the corporation hasn't found out and told them not to). I do agree that it's messed up that Subaru gives SCCA memberships but doesn't allow you to race. I know plenty of people that own EVOs, wrxs, etc. that don't legally race. Same goes for the srt4, if they catch you racing they could void the warranty on it, even though it was basically made for young people to tear up.

I don't see why they can't viod warranties. I mean when I had my ranger. I took it off roading a lot. they noticed a lot of dirt and mud on the under body and some dents caused by off roading. and they vioded my warranty on my truck that had 20k on it... Mitsubishi isn't the only one. They are just taking a bigger stab at it.

A white evo just rolled by outside, anyways... couldn't you have said you just live on a bad dirt road or going hunting and have to drive through the woods? Or do truck warranties state they can only be driven on paved roads? I don't think they do, that would suck if they do.

It makes no sense to build a very fast car like the evo then tell people not to legally race it. What else would you need close to 300hp?
With that argument why don't we all just drive 40hp VW Beetles. I mean, that's all the power that we really need. Why did I buy a 220hp Mazda6s when I could have bought the 160hp Mazda6i? Why do I thousands on modding my 6s even though I never race it? People just want more power and the manufacturers respond. \

And I also hate that they try to void your warranty because of aftermarket modifications. Most mods are better than what the car came with. Not all mods kill your car.
It is 100% illegal, mandated by federal law, for a manufacturer to void your warranty because of aftermarket modifications. They can only void your warranty if the modification caused a problem, and then they have the burden of proving that the modification is indeed what caused that particular problem. And even then your warranty is not void, just the portion pertaining to the area that you modified.

the SVTOA meets are the only sanctioned car manufacturer-supported meets that won't void your SVT warranty, supposedley. I'm going to my first one this fall, so I guess I'll find out. . .oh wait, i'm WELL out of my 1998 warranty.

Then don't market the car to people who want to use it to race.

Mitsubishi isn't the only manufacturer that denies warranty work for racing/mods etc. I know if I was to take my truck in for warranty work with my chip installed....bye bye warranty. Warranty or no warranty I'd still by the EVo RS over any car in the price range.

The evo rs is 25k, and you better use it just for racing. My friend just bought one, and it has no AC, pwr windows, pwr locks, radio, or carpeting in the trunk.
Sounds like the Cobra R. On a smaller scale.

I don't think that it is that they are doing it. It is how they are going about it.
