If the S-AFC was set to any other input type besides hot wire (i.e. MAF) that would happen.

The "initialize" resets the S-AFC to the first setting which happens to be hot wire.

Also if the PCM didn't see a proper MAF signal (i.e. garbage passing through the S-AFC) it would go to limp mode which when using large injectors would cause a hellacious rich mode. Maybe even enough to stall the car outright. Definitely enough to make it really un-drivable.

Be funny if this whole incident happened just because someone was playing with something they didn't understand eh???
