Hi guys,

I have a question and I hope I dont sound stupid,
I am selling my ride and I am not sure how transactions are made between me and a buyer, let me explain, this guy contacted me and said he will buy the car and send a certified check without seeing the car but says he will have his shipper come for the car, all he needs is my cell number first and last name and address, well the only problem is I have never done this type of transaction before and I am letting my mind wonder thinking that he will use my address to find the car and have it stolen, am I thinking poopy thoughts? Should I go for it? Please help

Sounds fishy, try to get him to do things your way. Maybe let you talk to the shipper, and have the shipper only pick up the car once his check has cleared. Just let him know you are EXTREMELY nervous about this type of transaction, and the only way you'll do it, is if you absolutely, 100% know that you have the cash before you release the car. Just be as careful as possible about it, try to see any way that he could scam you, as there are tons of different methods. Basically, take as much control as you can over it.

It could be a scam. Everything on the internet is suspicious to me. Especially links and email messages asking for passwords. I found this information.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/car-selling5.htm

Certified Check Scams - This scam is often perpetrated on sellers of used cars over the Internet. A buyer indicates that he wants to buy the car and pay with a cashier's check. At the last minute, the buyer creates a reason why he needs to write the check for more money and have the seller wire him the difference. The check turns out to be a fake, but it is often discovered long after the seller has wired the money. In addition, the seller is responsible for covering the money for the fake check. To avoid check scams, call the issuing bank before you accept the check and wait for the check to clear before you transfer the car into the buyer's name.
