Is it not clear from Tavis' sig that his wife's Saturn is an LS2? That's a 3200# rig with dent-resistant polymer panels (not metal or 'tin foil') pulled along by an Opel V6.

I agree it's probably not a hum-dinger, as even with the standard slushbox, low 7's 0-60mph and mid-high 15's are commonplace.

Wife's car: '00 Saturn LS2. Dk. Toreador Red (no joke) / Graphite Yes it is clear that his WIFE drives an LS2, I guess your assuming that everyone should know what an saturn LS2 is and what it weighs right? Pardon me for not knowing i don't give a crap if it was powered by a maybach v12 and made of NASA developed ultra durable spacecraft materials.. Pull your shorts out your ass

What's an LS2?

Last I knew, that was the new engine in that so called "C6".

L-series went by L100, L200 etc.

Well, I assumed that most 'car guys' stay on top of things and have a general awareness of the types and sizes of cars offered by most automakers -- particularly in the case of a Saturn LS since it's a sub-mid-sizer of similar weight and grunt to the Contour line. If I have assumed wrongly, and you don't have this general awareness I speak of or keep abreast of most carmaker's offerings, then I offer my sincerest apologies.

FWIW, I didn't know its weight off the top of my head...but it was easily found on Edmunds.com after half a minute or so. You might try it sometime.

IIRC, the introductory year used the 'LS' and 'LW' monikers to denote sedan and wagon. LS and LS1 were sedan 4-bangers, LS2, sedan V6 with some lux options thrown in. I believe they switched to the L200, L300, LW300, etc. naming convention in '01.

Most car enthusiasts generally care about cars that are either appealing to the eye or have potential under the hood. Doesn't really matter which of the entire Saturn line you choose, none of them have a lot of potential, nor would the be considered eye candy by any means. My mom drives a Saturn and I have no clue what model, engine size, weight it is. I just remember hanging my head when she told me she bought it.

I think my car looked good.

And was way faster than my CSVT.

Agreed, except the redlines may have SOME performance potential, though they still fit in with all the other ugly saturns.

This is Tavis' wife. I personally think my Saturn is a nice looking car. I obviously would not have even considered buying the car in the first place if I didn't. And Blackbirdracing, I think that is a sharp looking SC2.
As for them not being able to perform, I must admit I was shocked at the times I got at the track, as were a lot of other people. Speaking of potential, there is a GIRL in Dayton that can run 13's in her SC , Blackbird may remember her name from the saturnfans website. I was asked on many an occasion what I had in the car and to this day I have no mods, and I don't plan on getting any. Besides that, Saturn dealership service is impeccable. I'd think after all the complaints I see on this site about Ford service, you could appreciate that.

Link to pics of my "ugly" Saturn, and our other cars.
