L-series went by L100, L200 etc.
IIRC, the introductory year used the 'LS' and 'LW' monikers to denote sedan and wagon. LS and LS1 were sedan 4-bangers, LS2, sedan V6 with some lux options thrown in. I believe they switched to the L200, L300, LW300, etc. naming convention in '01.
