I still leark... hehe....
It's sweet to discuss this stuff. That SE ran 15.484 STOCK, Then the car was modified with: (and Tavis mentioned all of it I believe)
SVT Upper and Lower Intake Manifolds with port matching VIA a honing tool
65MM TB
2 1/2 inch exhaust split to 2 1/4
Short ram (forget the brand, mabee BAT)
and a Street-tuned APEXi SAFC
Eibach & Koni
And that's it - 7 mods. I trapped at 91 on the best MPH run, so the HP was there, plus I could pull some 2.2xx 60' times... cool thing was, I ran regular with great gas milage.
My goal was 15 flat, then it was 14's... never got to get it there because I got the 6... Oh well I wish I knew who bought it.
Tip: It's all about the cool down time...
Yes, that 'tour was a factory freak, we had meets (me being the "poser"), but I could pull just slightly on guys when we were driving *cough* spiritedly.
PS - I was there to watch the Saturn... Tavis ain't fibben...

Well, i could believe the saturn running a 15.6 but i don't believe it's a factory freak. Maybe it's because of all that dent resistant tin foil they are made out of what do they weigh like 2500 pounds?

You don't suppose these "factory freaks" are a result of the break-in process do you?

Break in process = beating the snot out of the car from the day you take it off the lot.
This ensures that it will be a strong runner for you the whole time you own the car.

I would at least let the rings seat first and give the other parts a mild break in.
Well there also is the clutch break in period.
400-500 miles, change the oil, and then flog it.
Though that doesn't mean no hard runs before that just no sustained WOT pulls and no driving at a set rpm level. Break the engine in over the rpm range you intend to driving it in. 0 to redline!

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

Is it not clear from Tavis' sig that his wife's Saturn is an LS2? That's a 3200# rig with dent-resistant polymer panels (not metal or 'tin foil') pulled along by an Opel V6.
I agree it's probably not a hum-dinger, as even with the standard slushbox, low 7's 0-60mph and mid-high 15's are commonplace.

and for some reason the L wagon handle better than the L sedans.
As for mine it was a 1995 SC2 5spd. That a two door twin cam for you non-saturn guys.
