Start by checking for vac leaks in the vac system or intake system after the MAF.

If that doesn't help, then replace the plugs & wires with Motorcraft parts - even if you've done it recently. You can always return the parts or have spares handy. Motorcraft parts seem to be best by far for these ignition systems, they're very picky.


Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

The 2.0L I4 is a Zetec

The 2.5L V6 is a Duratec

Yes that always helps. but you did state you had the timming belt replaced in your original post. The V-6 's have timming chains.
