ok, here's what i mean if no one understands what i'm trying to say.
the intake plenum/resinator chamber that sits right on top of the TB. if i removed it what should i put in its place to give it a better flow. and also would it sound any louder if i removed it?
i am looking to do this project this weekend and I HAVE TO KNOW SOON so that i can order what i need to get for it.
thanks

A cold air intake of some kind is what you're thinking. Not sure of what specific one, but any is better than stock. Even a stock Focus intake tube is better than our stock piece. Might check some salvage yards for that.

The throttle body diameter is around 2.75" so if you want to build a cold air intake yourself you'll need at least 2.5" pipe. Regular exhaust pipe would work ok. I used that for my intercooler piping. Here's a close up pic of the TB. See what I mean?

The connectors are just regular same diameter radiator hose but for the TB piece, it's a bit more trickier. My dad found a intake piece from a old Subaru at a salavage yard and I just trimmed that a bit and used a pre-mandrel bent exhaust piece for the curve.

Looks like that intake has the nipple for the hose.

Yes the hose is for the valve breather.

As for the intake, a true cold air intake is better than stock, duh, but you'll have to build it as there are no kits available.
For max performance, you would want some sort of plenum over the TB.
Don't attach an open element (cone, K&N style) directly to the MAF.
Don't just have an open element filter in the engine bay without a heat shield.
Try to use 2.75" pipe, its available and cheap, do a search, I've posted where to buy it.

Here's a pic of my intake setup, works very well.
I'm using the stock air box (also used as plenum), stock fender draw, 2.75" tubing, and K&N panel filter.
I am currenty working on adding a plenum above the TB and a piece to better redirect air flow from the fender into the airbox.
