So my alternator died last night. Luckily I was able to nurse the car to my girlfriends apt before it died completely. So this is the second time in as many years that its happened and I'm wondering if I should invest in a booster. I called my mechanic and he said I should probably get one for myself even though he offered to lend me one this time around. Does anyone have any experience with them? Whats a good brand/price? Do they even work? I've never heard of using a booster for this. I thought they were just good for jumping a dead battery, not charging a battery while driving in place of the alternator.
