we needs Terry to chime in here...I know it is early and all, but eventually Im gonna need to get his Bulldog Tranny/LSD combo and get it shipped out here to SoCal.. Are you gonna offer this Terry? Where can I get more specific info on your Bulldog tranny? Like what the new gears are made of, or what they can handle, and of course the price?

Terry,

You just need to build a little bedroom onto the shop so that people can drive their cars out and crash there while you do the work laugh

Better yet, put their asses to work ... they might learn something wink

What a great idea!

Does Terry offer a summer apprenticship?

Will trade computer training for shop training.

I'll bring the project car laugh

Sun says I've got to take more vacation, so why not do something fun!

I just wanted to add to Rara's comment here - The failure mode in one of these diffs would be in the gear teeth, not the housing. There is very little room to package here.

What they don't mention is that the nature of the unbalanced loading on a typical helical gear(Quaife or GNK or Toshigi-Fuji or Tru-Trac) diff puts such a severe load on the differential's housing that they need the steel housing for durability. A Torsen diff has the gears configured for much better load-balancing (which is patented), which makes a cast housing more then adaquate.

I'm not (really) bashing Quaife either, I'm just reinforcing what Rara said with what we've found to be true...

That's great news to hear Rick, but...

How will the Torsen price compare to the new much lower Quaife price and do we still have to wait until 1st quarter 02?

Not knocking either, just wanting the best bang for my buck... Torsen may be missing the boat by waiting to release (if they have a choice?) at this point...

Parts should be available sometime in October. It won't be in the 2002 FRPP catalog, but it will be in a flyer they hand out at the NOPI Nationals and at the SEMA show. Pricing ought to be in the general ballpark, but I don't know specifically what (it'll be set by the retailers).

Locking effect/torque bias ratio should be higher for the Torsen vs. the Quaife, which means better traction performance. FRPP got too much wheelspin using a Quaife with the FR200, the Torsen didn't.
