Okay... So I called Signiture and Bill is overnighting me a Turbine Speed Sensor (part number according to the FAQ). I'll jack it up and pull he old one tonight. I hope that that is it. Man, I can't afford a new CD4E. If this works, I'm going to get the tranny cooler as well!

Stay tuned ...

ARGH!

That only means that your car knows that you are trying to find out what's wrong. That's all! Just be patient and it will tell you what you want to know. If not, then just ride around with the OBD-II connector connected to the port, because apparently the car enjoys it.

Sorry, just a little humor there.

I just drove all the way to work (36 miles / 45 min) and it was bucking like a bronco for a good portion of the way but never got the O/D light to flash. I am going to pull the TSS tonight and order a replacement. I am worried it's going to tear itself apart.

its not gonna tear itself apart bucking, just the roll restrictors and motor mounts

Okay, The transmission place took it off the car and looked inside. Needs:

New Band
New Clutches
New Valve Body / Solonoids
New Torque Converter
Filter clogged
Other stuff but I was too shell shocked to think beyond the majors

Total cost for rebuild: $2200

$1350 for Labor

Lifetime warranty on parts
They will put on my Tranny Cooler
They will put in Synthetic

Anything else I should look for?

instead of a stock valve body put in the sonnex valve body/CD4Ejr kit, it helps fix some weak spots in the hydraulic system, also you could have an external filter installed to help prevent the clogging of the internal one

instead of that you could get this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33727&item=7919020805&rd=1

a lot cheaper than a new one, dont know about the condition of it though

Don't bother buying this from ebay.
This CD4E is a Duratec V6 model and you have the Zetec 4 cyl.
There are a lot of differences between the two trannies.

With 122,000 miles on it, what they found is to be expected.
$2200 is very reasonable for this also, and lifetime warranty isn't too shabby either.
I would go ahead and let them do what they want with it, and make sure
you have the ATX Oil changed every 15,000 miles after you have the work done.
Let them do the ATX Service also so that your Warranty stays intact as long as you own the car.

Good Luck...
