Thanks for all the kind words , everyone . It certainly helps . Thanks for the pic , Plato . I'll keep it around for sure . Parkedcar - I remember when you had to put your dog down . I remember thinking how I'd be sad as heck when it happened to me . I just didn't think it'd happen this soon . He was really more than a dog to us , he was like our child . We still have 2 cats , who are 16 & 13 . I figured we'd be saying goodbye to them long before Duke . Like I said , we're devistated . The cats are pacing the house waiting for their brother to come home ... it's strange . And to think , Duke was loving his freedoms here at our new house . At least he had a year to enjoy it . The house it too quiet without him . I keep expecting him to pop out from around the corner to see me walk down the steps .

It's gonna be a tough road , for sure . For now , I'm self-medicating to help me get through the night . Thanks again , I appreciate it .

BTW - the "rainbow bridge" poem was appreciated too . I'll keep that bookmarked so I can read it whenever I'm feeling blue ...
