Sounds like its going to be his first bike. It would be crazy to have a gixxer to learn on. Too many people buy bikes that they can't handle early on and end up paying the price. The SV-650 is really the only one listed that would be appropriate. Have fun, I miss my old bike daily...

yea the guy at the dealer told me not to get the GSX-R 600 or the 600RR.

Gotta have a bike, my dad's friend teaches it so does the guy who i will probably end up buying the bike they both said even though i take the course I should still got to a huge parking lot as close as possbile to where i live and driver around (like an empty one), so I can practice until i am pretty good. Which sounds fine to me lol. did that with forklifts at my current job lol.

I think you meant the FZ6, thats in the class with the SV650. Thats the bike I would get hands down out of the ones you said. They are $6500 new, and I found a dealer that would let me have one for $7000 out the door with a 4 year warranty and TTL.

Everywhere I read the FZ6 beats out the SV650 in performance and comfort.

I saw the FZ6 later on. I liked the looks of the R6 but performance wise its a bit much. I prefer yamaha and suzuki. Not a big fan of honda, even though they looks great.. sorry gotta thing against honda's even though their bikes looks good! I am looking at thr FZ6 tonight instead of the R6. The SV650S i was looking at was 6500 out the door and it was a 2004, which is the first year they were made. 100% new. 1 mile on it.

See i would like to get something used, but hey no much i can get for a $900. LOL with my new job thats all i got.. it would take me forever to buy a used bike and the interests since i have no credit would suck just as bad. So i figure a new bike. I mean i have drove them a few times before a R1 (friend of mine before he got paralized by some old lady on I-5. and a Suzuki Ninja from a guy at my last job. Other then that I have drove a lotta dirt bikes back 3-4 years ago in montana.
