96 (Mystique) Zetec ATX 90,000 miles

Always had rough idle, but now, only when cold (first time I start it for the day) if I don't keep the RPMs above approx. 1200+ the call will stall. If I don't hit the gas within a second or two of starting and it the engine drops below 1000 it will certainly stall

Now, it takes a good 30 seconds for it to work itself out and allow me to take my foot of the gas. Once I drive it, for the rest of the day it is fine. This just started getting bad a few days ago.

Suggestions? Advice appreciated! Thanks

Clean, at your mileage maybe replace your Idle Air Control valve. There was a TSB I read before pertaining to the cold start stall, the fix was to replace it. However it was a TSB so of course they arent going to say just clean it, cause then they dont make money off you for buying parts.
Mine does the same thing to, need to hold the gas pedal to keep it from staling. After that first start it is fine the rest of the day though.
