Hey, I am so fed up with this Tranny in my 97 Contour. I have the 24V DOHC V6 with the automatic Tranny. The Transmission was rebuilt about one year ago because it was totally blown apart. The car ran great for a year and then started acting up again so it was covered under warranty and needed to be rebuilt again. After this rebuild the Overdrive off light keeps coming on and flashing. The OD off light doesnt come on everytime you drive it just about one out of every three times. Has anyone out there had this same prob or does anyone know what is wrong here? The tranny was completely rebuilt new torque converter, valve body, pump, you name its new in that transmission. So thats why I think it must be a problem outside the transmission. Please help me cause I'm about to go crazy. PS Its been put on the technologically advanced machines outthere but they still can't find what the problem is.

T-Red, KKM tru rev induction, Ford racing wires, Cooper Cobras GTH, A pillar gauge pods with ford racing gauges, Clifford Matrix alarm, painted red calipers, full bra, premium audio installed,LED's, Ford Racing seat belt pads. It's my baby!!! I love to pull up to a honda or a VW and blow their fast and furious doors off. Imports can suck my american exhaust!!!

Sounds like what happened when my torque converter in the tranny went out. If you are still under warranty, tell them to fix that because it shouldn't have gone out so soon after a rebuild.

VSS (vehicle speed sensor) might be a possiblity. Have the codes pulled.

Is your check engine light on? If so, just get the code pulled at Autozone and let us know what it is.
If you CEL is not on, the wait for your O/D light to flash. Then head over to Autozone, so they can pull the code. Whatever you do, do not turn the car off. If you do, it will erase the code and they will not be able to retrieve it.
What exactly is the car doing anyway? Is it just the O/D light flashing or is the tranny actually doing something, like harsh shifts (before the light comes on), slipping ext.
