ok guys I know Ive posted alot in the last couple of days but.
1 tride a 3inch fresh air duct with a filter on the end in the front bumper. caused some idle problems and although I didn't drive it I think it decraesed throttle response. will be trying again soon. worried about straw theory.

2 after much time and various prototypes and looking at other cars I think an inclosed airbox is best.m5 maclaren zo6 360 mugan s2000 nsx all use enclosed air boxes if you don't get the best possible intake on an m or a ferrari then what do you get! mugan even charges 2500 for a new carbon fiber  pretty airbox that moves the draw to in front of the radiator.

3 after playing with open intake designs and spending easily enough to buy a few intakes and the cfm #'s resently posted by demon the filter and the draw source are NOT the downfall of the svt intake. the lid is and if ya'll provide some feedback good bad what ever I will make a new lid with a larger draw tube and some desent clearence around the start of the filter.

I can honestly say the the in bumper filter sucked the air space in the fender is colder has no risk and doesn't suffer from a lack of throttle response the in bumper felt good when got going but had no bottom end power.

anything helpful smile

One thing to consider when looking at "stock" intake systems, they must be somewhat enclosed for EPA purposes. No exposed elements, etc. This doesn't mean they are better or worse. But, we all know about heat soak.

The best would be an open air filter inside the fender well with an additional air draw from the front spoiler. Insulated intake piping to the MAF and the TB...

Yes this would call for some serious fabrication work and better yet; battery relocation...

Maybe some 3.5-4" PVC piping (plastic doesn't retain heat and can be smoothed and melted to shape) Not that I have thought about this much... laugh

The s2000 was in sport tuner this week they added a cone type filter in the factory airbox and gained 1.2 horses or something like that.Just for kicks they got rid of the box and went to an open filter and got 2.7 hp..just an observation

the mugan intake gained 8 and comptech uses an air box of a close design. right now I don't think I can find the parts to widen the opening of the stock box so will need further development. update when I figure something out right now it looks like filter in the fender is the best. or maybe an offroad k&n
