What about using the KKM filter with this setup? Also, able to use the heat shield on this?

Well, that is up to you to try. We have the kit designed as a complete package and we cannot guarantee fitment with other manufacturer's products, without requiring some modification.

Eh David,

I might try this as I noticed that even after a 15min run, if I open the hood the pipe is quite hot. I'm sure a heat shield would help. Just have to find a way to make is look good. I don't want to compromise the looks. Eheheh.

Very impressive!! For some reason I am always happy with the Zetec people get cool stuff. That looks like a great intake and is light years above the stock. Now we need to put the filter in a box and pipe it to the fender (cool air). Got something giong for that, Chris?

Good job!

Soupman, WOW cool Where in Canada are you from? I am from Ottawa area.

Is the long pipes design to stay as far away from the engine as possible or is it for better laminent flow of air which I have been hearing is what the Zetec needs? Thanks in advance!!!

Can I purchase such a item here in Canada or do I have to order from the states?

What is that black box at the back of the engine bay that was removed for? The one centrally located, not the factory air box!!
How were all the conections. Time to install?

Looks like a good quality setup, although you might consider wrapping it with a thermal insulator of some sort. Otherwise after 15 minutes of driving it may act as an "inter-heater" for the intake charge wink

Hey, not bad. I'm not partial to the Zetec's myself but that looks very pretty. I had an idea for a liquid heat exchange system that would wrap around the pipe and use a small water pump to keep water flowing over and around the pipe. Sort of like the engine cooling system. Use a small electric water pump and something like a radiator or trans. cooler mounted behind the car's radiator. That may be too much but the filter and pipe still looks nice. Good luck with the setup.

Thanks for the kind comments. Don't have anything in the makings , yet, to get some cool air up there except some 3" aluminum duct from Home Depot. That will be for testing only.

Just a note, we have run into a supply problem for the filter we found to fit over the Zetec MAF. If anyone wants a kit now, we can only ship them out with a filter that is a bit harder to slip over the MAF. If that is not an issue for the purchaser, then the kits will start going out Monday.

You could do something to make the pipe stay cooler. As Nick said, wrapping...some kind of insulating. Seeing as how they KKM filter connects to the MAF directly and so does the filter on this setup...I imagine the two would be interchangeable. By visual inspection a Miks heat shield would have to be modified slightly to fit with that setup. Guess I'll be ordering one to be the guinea pig for the custom setup. :p
