So i'm driving along and pull into a parking lot ... notice a rattling ... turn my music down... rattle is real loud and car stalls out. Well i am car dumb, so call up friends . Brings the car to his house ... pulls it apart. HA HA freakin ha... my timing belt tensioner shattered into 3 pieces !!! I also find out you need a fancy ford tool to fix the timing ... lol.... i gonna cry now ... i just wanted to share my sad story... thank god my friend works for another dealer ship and can borrow the tool ... and hopefully fix my car on monday..

That sucks. You don't need a special tool, you need two hehehe. But Haynes tells you how to make them, but if you don't have the time to do it yourself, that's ok. I think I'm thankful I chose to do my belt when I did...
As is, and Half the bearings gone. And I couldn't hear anything that bad, but could see the belt and other tensioners had rubber chunks embedded on them.

you don't really need any special tools to change the timing belt. if you are going to do it yourself you just need a good set of tools and some knowledge, search for a thread called timing belt faq, that should answer alot of your questions
