I built my friend a computer for about the same price as the low model dell, yet had the power of the mid-range dells (towards the better). I only prefer Dell when it comes to laptop computers.

As a long standing W98 user, DUMP IT and get XP...Oh my what a difference - no more BSoD and all the stuff runs great - expecially Windows Movie Maker. I dumped my ULead 6.0 for it.
I know you are afraid of registration.......WHY

If you are afraid of having to regester windows find a "friend" that has a "special" version of Windows XP profssional  . You will be able to install XP Pro on as many Pc's as you like and I found that with a few tweeks XP Pro will run alot faster than XP Home. I also used to be an avid 98 user, I refused to switch for the longest time. But a close "friend" gave me a "special" version of XP Pro and I figured, what the hell I'd try it out. Wow What A Difference!

I built my system, and its been close to 2 years now... Duron 1.4, rock solid... lots of ram, and of course.. I update my video card constantly... to bad I can't get the AGP 8X video cards... time for a motherboard/cpu/ram upgrade..
but for now, my 1.4, 512 megs of ram, 80 gigs of like 3 hard drives, and my good ol souund blaster live value
it still works like a dream! cept for the fact my master hard drive (after 4 years I think, 20 gig) has finally decided to sputter and almost call it quits!
