I seem to notice some trends that are very disheartening. "What makes the car?"
First it was stereos. Then it was neons. Then it was tunneling with 12" rims Then it was plastichrome wheel caps. Then it was actual rims with beyond-reasonable low-profile tires. Then neons on the inside of the car. (WHAT?!?!) Then it was the size of your exahust tip (regardless of your actual tail pipe size.) Now it seems to be wings.
I should just eat a bullet now before this new gen of "styling concepts" completely destroys all that I hold dear to auto styling.
What's the next stupid trend that we should expect? I'm thinking really big hood scoops that don't actually function (similiar to what Mustangs have now...heheheh...from the factory...HAHAHAHA...) Hmmm...what else would be completely bizarre but just stupid enough to catch on??? Maybe be like the crotch-rockets and start removing body panels rather than adding?? ("We can now get more cold air to our engines") Of course, the aerodynamics go out what used to the window...
Anyone else care to predict the ugly future? Maybe we can even get some Photochopping done to see the future today!
I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby. There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!

You need to get a life and get over it. You already made your point clear in the last thread about how you don't like wings. We don't need another one. Now my friend take your conservative 1960's ass thinking and go sit in the corner and STFU! I am tired of you and people who think like you. You act like people can't modify their cars. Until your ***** ass is paying for Everyone's car payment then you can comment. Until then STFU again. You have a very fitting name, because you still need to evolve.   Evolution= Assclown  -Antonio

The latest trend to hit most of the hot rodding scene was the Pro-touring following the Pro-street days. The import scene kinda melts in there somewhere, melting the lines between show car and wild turbo auto-cross monsters. I see the next big thing being Rally car styling, either in tarmac prep or cross country prep.
I've also started to see NASCAR throwbacks with late 60's on up through early 80's cars being turned into NASCAR hero vehicle look-a-likes. Any old '68 Torino fastback or '79 Monte Carlo will do, small block or big block power and minimal interior work needed. There's a nice '82 or so Monte with number 11 D.Waltrip here in town that looks pretty nice...

There was also a phase with manufacturers applying decals of inlets and intakes on the side. Now it seems to have evolved to moldings as in the case of the Cavaliers. Something I have yet to see done to a Contique here on the CEG - thank God.

But as far as trends go, I'm guessing electronics. LEDs seem to be fairly new in cars, and they can be build upon. Synched blinking and such.
I've also seen bunch of lifted Excursions driving around. And I'm thinking they weren't living on a farm behind a mountainous swampland. I know getting a lift is not a new idea. Unless it's a civic w/8" lift. Haven't seen those yet.
Of course all those other trends have become cultures, not just temporary trends (except maybe the plastichrome hub cabs).

-Antonio Umm, antonio, would you care to explain exactly what was ignorant about Evolution's post? It is quite obvious you don't agree with his opinion on what is good looking in the world of aftermarket modifications, but I see nothing ignorant about his post whatsoever; he simply made a reasonably accurate assesment of popular trends on aftermarket customization, and offered an opinion of the aesthetic appeal of them, and pondered future trends. What I think you need to do is calm down and quit taking everything so personal; and quit using terms like "ignorant" in the completely wrong context. sheesh, I would have hated to see what woulda happened if a particular race was alluded to.
It's all about balance.

He stated his opinions/views already, but damn does he have to me another post about it? In regards to ignorant comment. I think there is some ignorance in host post, so how could I use the word wrong? Anyway, on lighter note Rara we need to talk. I have been wanting to have a talk with you since last year. -Antonio

well enough fighting already! anyway the current style from my point of view is not wings but those altezza-style tail lights. Everyone and their brother has them on their car now. I'm not saying I don't like them, I'm just sayin they're overdone.
