First off I need to know the "average" life of our oil pumps. I did a search for anything oil pump related and didnt come up w/ very much useful information...
I was driving home today and at no more than 35 mph and was hearing a slight noise kind of like a belt slipping, but couldnt tell if it was my car or something else, so i pulled off the road and it stalled. Everytime you go to start it, it makes a whining sound like i stated earlier. Had a friend come to see/hear it, he is a mechanic at Honda, and he thinks it sounds like one of the cams in bank 1 head. The oil was changed not even 20 miles ago. As I posted about 2wks or less ago about oil pressure and what it should be, it has been at a constant 25 lbs never dropping unless at idle and of course never raising..it did seem to low to me, however, since the removal of the "top half" of the motor ie...low/upper intake manifolds for turbo kit, it has been this way, so I was thinking more along the lines of the sending unit maybe being bad. Just wondering if it doesnt sound as though like my oil pump has basically "stopped working". Obviously not completely but not making enough pressure to lube the upper part of the motor. Its oil pressure was like this even before i was able to go into boost. Any info would be highly appreciated as I need to get this car on the dyno to tune it. Also if it is an oil pump, how do i replace it and how much do they typically cost. Also do you know how much cams are and can I buy one or do i need/should I buy all 4. Thanks once again, and please
