my tour seems to have a miss around 2000 rpm. it seems to miss more when driving in town and especially going up hills. i think it may be the fuel pump(which if it is then this will be my third fuel pump on this car). the car runs fine at interstate speeds and when there is no problem with acceleration and higher rpm's(4000-6000). the car is going in the shop today to have the alternator looked at so i may as well have the fuel pump checked.

well the ford garage called me yesterday and told me my car was all fixed . then they told me that there was nothing wrong with my car and the guy asked me why i had it there. i guess i just wanted to donate $72.36 to a worthy cause like a ford dealership . as much as i love this car i think i am seriously considering trading this car in for an f-150 or an f-250!

I have the same problem, but noboday can figure out why its doing it. EVERY person that has looked at it says its mechanically sound.

I'm having the same problem
THOUGHT
I am going to clean my Throttle Position do dad - I think it's not registering slightly open when it is, therfore the Computer is not providing enought fuel.....?????
Your thoughts....

i am going to work on the car next weekend when i have a couple days off work. i think i am going to check all of the ground wires first and make sure they all are ok and just look around and see if everything is all right.

Is it the zetec or duratech... when i had my 'tour (zetec) i started doing this i brought it to my car guy to pull the codes ( i had a CEL) it was the cam sensor, he changed it and the car still stuttered brought it back again he said that it might be the gas pump so we changed that...to make a long story short i also changed plugs, wires, coil ( they only had maybe 1000 miles) timimg belt. I basically changed everything that had to do with the fuel system and still now improvment.

I did not have any CEL's but the car was still acting up so i went against common sense and brought to ford they told me the car was in perfect condition and could not fine anything wrong with it they even tried with a new MAF and the car still would not run good, i got tired of spending money and not being able to fix the car ( over $2000 in 3 months) and sold the 'tour in mai '03

i have an se sport with the duratec in it. my mom drove my car home and she said it ran great but then again she probably drives 20-30 mph slower than i do. it seems like this car has to go into the garage every 6 months or so and frankly i am fed up with it.
