I'd love to know what that means.

Word of advice- don't run a whole lot in your background while playing games... you'll notice a vast performance increase.
Yeah, if you only have like 256MB of RAM, don't do that. Otherwise, programs like AIM or MIRC really aren't gonna rob you of any noticable performance.
If you'd love to know what that means, you've got a sub high-school education. Or your lack of reading comprehension is as noticeable as your arrogance.

There's plenty of fact- I gave my machine specs, and spoke the truth. At those settings, it ran just fine. And Originally posted by troll:
I have a P4 3.5GHz with 1GB of PC4000 RAM and an ATI 9800XT with the 875P chipset, and I still don't manage great framerates in DooM3.
sounds like a complaint to me.
Not to mention you come on here, claiming everyone here as "noobs." How old are you? How long have you been doing this? There are people on this board who've been gaming likely as long as you've been alive. And you haven't taught me a damn thing. I've been at this as a hobby since I was six, which puts me just a hair over 20 years of experience. There's nothing in this world that you could teach me. Try me. You'll lose, flat out. How much did I pay for my system? Rough estimate sits at $700. I'll figure out exact costs later. It does prove something- that you've got an opinion of what "crap" is, and I can tell you what you consider "crap" is satisfactory for the majority of people here.
You've bought/built a computer as a gaming rig. Congratulations. The majority of us didn't. We do other work, check email, surf, whatever, and don't really need the highest end machines. Your "suggestions" are rediculous for at least 80% of the people here.
Nevermind the fact that you created an account simply because you felt the need to make yourself feel/look superior. Well, that's unfortunate because you've made yourself look like an ass.
Mods, let's get this troll banned and IP blocked, shall we? Can we also lock this down before it gets ugly?

Let me clarify. I'd love to know what YOU mean by "very decent frame rates."
Yes, clearly I'm the one with "a lack of reading comprehension."

That's because you're an idiot. I'm not explaining my reasoning for making this comment again. Pay more attention.

22 Years old.

Doing what? Gaming? Since Atari 2600. Building/Modifying Computers? Since 8th grade. Going to school for Computer Science? For the past 2 years.

There are also people who have been driving automobiles twice as long as I've been alive, yet I still manage to possess a higher level of knowledge than they do on the subject. What's your point, exactly? I think I'm missing it.

Again, irrelevant.

That's probably the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. I'm sure there's plenty I could teach you. Just as well as I'm sure there's plenty you could teach me.

I paid less than $1400 for my system.

Don't bother. (see above)

That may be true.

Incorrect. I've built my computer around many things, including software development, 3D Design, 2D Design, Video Editing, etc.

I'm addressing the guy who was asking about upgrading his processor for DooM3. Pay attention.

Your spelling is "rediculous".

Incorrect. I've already stated why I made an account. Pay attention.

Thank you.

It was ugly before I got here.
Feel free to IP ban me. I'll just use my limited knowledge to find another way back on the forum. But only then, I'll probably be more hostile.

Dayum, you seen aweful wound up over this. My point by saying that I am "averaging" around 60FPS was made by playing the game with com_drawfps set to 1 so that I can see my FPS while I play. Sure running the timedemo is all well and good, but this way I get to play as I judge performance as well and what I see is that it is usually around 60, can spike as high as 85 and dip into the low 50s, so I "average" around 60FPS.

Just get the best card you can afford. Be it an ATI or Nvidia. 128 or 256. Find a card in your price range, do some research and make your decision. Just about every card made has some kind of review on it. Don't base everything on one game that may or may not be collecting dust in a couple of months.

There are three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!
Isn't that just the wrong way?
Yeah, but faster!

Why don't you take your arrogant, horrible advice giving ass out of here?
Oh wait, you never really gave any advice, only a bunch of "I think I am smarter than you," bulls---.

My current computer is: AMD Athlon XP 1700+, 768mb PC2700, Geforce 3 ti200 64mb, Westerm Digital 200gb 8mb cache, Win2k. I ordered an Athlon XP 2400+ Thoroughbred so now my next move is the video card. Is there even a video card out there under $150 that'll run this game? If so, what are my choices?
My brother running this game on an athlon 1600, 512 ram, 9600xt videocard. The game is running on medium quality, all effects on. The timedemo FPS was 21.4. How much did you spend on that Atlon processor? You might want to consider the 2800+ Barton and the ATI Radeon 9800, non pro. You could get this combo for about $240, and would give you a nice all around performer.
