No, I've got plenty of fact in my statement.
You back up your arguments with NO factual information.

There's more to performance than just upgrading your machine.
No. You upgrade your machine with better hardware, you get better performance. PERIOD.

Great, you've got a high-end machine that cost you a bunch of money. And you're still complaining about performance.
I wasn't complaining. I was giving people a benchmark for when they decide to upgrade. By telling them waht my system is and how it handles the game. Try to pay attention.

I've got a machine that cost most likely less than half of yours (even assuming you built your own)
Well, let's test your theory. How much did you pay for your system? And I want ALL costs.

and I'm VERY satisfied with my performance.
This proves nothing and is irrelevant.

Keep your drives defragged, keep as little running in the background, and enjoy higher performance, it's that simple.
Wrong. You can defrag all you want, or turn of all the programs you want. Remove all the icons from your background. Remove your wallpaper. If you have an AMD2400+, DooM3 will STILL run like CRAP.

Again, there's nothing taking full advantage of AGP 8x, why bother going any further? It's going to take at least a year before PCI-E is even touched on, let alone used.
Yes, that's exactly what I said earlier. I'm glad to have taught you something. Thanks for listening.

And, your "recommendations" are just bogus. If you're not happy with the game, why are you suggesting someone blow over a grand on a machine JUST to play a game?
What the hell are you talking about? When did I say I wasn't happy with DooM3? All I said was my system doesn't run it great. PAY ATTENTION.

If you want to play Doom3 really well, just pay $150 for an XBOX, $50 for the game, and spend the other $800 on a decent TV, which you'll get more use out of. It makes more sense that way.
This is going to be fun...
The XBOX version of DooM3 is going to be gutted of most of its amazing technology. Why? The XBOX has a 700MHz CPU and a GeForce2 or 3 GPU. Not to mention since 90% of the people who play XBOX play it on an interlaced TV, which has a 30Hz refresh rate. This means all they have to do is get DooM3 to run at 30 frames per second on the XBOX, because you won't see anything over that because of the refresh rate limitation.
If the original poster with the AMD1700+ spent $150 on a mid range video card to upgrade his computer, he could run DooM3 at Low Quality settings which would STILL look better than XBOX and I'm sure he could push the 30FPS limitations of the XBOX version. Not to mention the flexability you have with a PC version of a game far surpasses any XBOX version. You'll be able to mod the game and actually be a part of an online multiplayer/modding community.
I own an XBOX, it's a good system, but please play DooM3 on your PC. You'll be happy you did.
