There's more to performance than just upgrading your machine. Great, you've got a high-end machine that cost you a bunch of money. And you're still complaining about performance. I've got a machine that cost most likely less than half of yours (even assuming you built your own) and I'm VERY satisfied with my performance. Keep your drives defragged, keep as little running in the background, and enjoy higher performance, it's that simple.
Again, there's nothing taking full advantage of AGP 8x, why bother going any further? It's going to take at least a year before PCI-E is even touched on, let alone used.
And, your "recommendations" are just bogus. If you're not happy with the game, why are you suggesting someone blow over a grand on a machine JUST to play a game? If you want to play Doom3 really well, just pay $150 for an XBOX, $50 for the game, and spend the other $800 on a decent TV, which you'll get more use out of. It makes more sense that way.
