First of all, PCI Express is ALREADY out. Second, if you're purchasing a system to just play games on, at this point, PCI Express is just a waste of money.

Let me set it up for you...

Video cards have been running through these 'bandwidth' increments for a long time now. For the point of this post I'll only mention AGP 2x, 4x, and 8x. If you look on the shiny box for your new video card you'll see, most likely, "8x AGP". Now, before 8x AGP, there was 4x AGP. Technically 8X AGP is DOUBLE the bandwidth of AGP 4X... Well, do a little experiment: if you have an AGP 8X card, go into your BIOS and change your video card setting down to 4x. Don't worry, it'll work. Reboot the system, and run some benchmarks. Change your system back to 8X AGP and run the same benchmark. You'll notice little to absolutely no performance gain.

Why? Because games don't utilize the extra bandwidth allowed with AGP8x. Hell, they don't even fully utilize AGP 4X yet. So... If you upgrade to PCI Express, the only thing you're getting at this point with VIDEO cards is increased bandwidth (technically double the bandwidth of AGP 8x). The performance of the video cards is STILL up to the actual video card.

SO. If programs or games (except MAYBE for high definition video editing) aren't fully utilizing even AGP 4X yet, WHY would you want to upgrade to PCI-E 16x??? At this point it's all marketing, and sadly, you noobs are falling for it.

GO do some research before you suggest technology to people.
And better yet, the rest of you, go do some research before you listen to these people.

Good Luck,
