Hopefully it was done before otherwise trouble may be coming very soon.
When the fluid gets older it collect the tiny particles from the tranny that come apart after normal wear and tear. If the fluid is not changed these particles are in there with the fluid and sort of keep the thing together. They will where the wear spots are and where tiny particles are missing, because it is old basically is why they can stick to places where particles are missing.
Anyways you just removed ALL those partciles and old fluid and now have no fluid. Now nothing is in the place where the littel pieces are missing, the fluid is new and therefore wont stick, in a sense.
