....you wait a few weeks when your car is in the shop getting repaired after a wreck and you finally get it back? its great, except when you leave the place and finally get home and notice....

how could someone have not noticed this!? i immediately took it back to CARSTAR and when the manager saw it, he laughed and said, ohh dont worry, those come free. i was about ready to dockey punch him! he said they'd take care of it whenever i had the time. i said well, i dont have another 2 weeks to wait around, and this is my only car, so ill get back to you. then once i finally washed it, i noticed how whoever buffed my hood def. didn't know what they were doin! check out these swirl marks, not sure if you'll be able to tell. look right along the hood/fender line and you can see.

ok, i'm done with my rant now. just thought i'd share.

I wouldn't take the car back to them. Those problems in the pictures are not just ordinary mistakes, they are incompetence or gross negligence. Don't let them work on your car anymore. Go back and tell them they have to pay to have the work repaired at a COMPETENT shop.

If the work was covered by insurance, you can also get the insurance company involved by telling them you did not get the benefits promised in your policy (i.e. competent repair).

The next shop you take it to should seriously consider stripping all that paint off. Those bubbles may indicate that the paint is not bonded well anywhere.

How dumb can they be not to notice this crap on your car?? I would be furious upset if I was you. Take your car back and have them repair it for you ASAP. Bluff if you have to when you can say you want your car repair done within probably 48 hrs or Ill be back with my lawyer or something. That would def make them jump up and work on it asap.

Reason # 943847 NOT to take your car to a bodyshop your insurance company recommends. They endorse body shops based on how fast and CHEAP they do their work. Lets face it, ultimately, the insurance company wants to keep the money you put in their pocket, in their pocket! You have the right to use any body shop you like. When my car got wrecked I took a week to ask around for reputable body shops in my area to be sure the job got done right by someone I could trust. I'm sure if this happens again, you will too.

Sorry to see it happen to you though...

they didn't recommend it. a good friend of mines dad was the manager of carstar. carstar is a nationally known collision repair shop. due to internal conflict, his dad quit just before my car went in. his dad originally did my estimate and everything. i've heard only great things about the company, thats why i'm so incredibly surprised with the outcome. when i told his dad of the situation, he was awed and couldn't believe it. he said i may have to contact corp. headquarters over the matter. o well, $hit happens.

Actually with my accident I went to the dealer which is a shop my insurance recommended. And they did and EXCELLENT job. So I wouldn't agree with that at all. But I would definately take care of that ASAP and take it to someone else.

hmmm. paint should bubble like that if the primer they are using isnt compatible with the top coat or they baked the car to hot. ive seen that happen on a few jets weve painted. also primer will curdle if its still wet and you spray some regular paint on it right away. but thats almost impossible to do since priming drys in like 30 seconds.
