Well, it seems as if my no muffler mod has given me some decent gains. After many trips to the drag strip, the best run I could ever pull was a high 15.4. And I never could back that up. I have since been able to run 15.5-15.7s, with more common runs in the 15.6-15.8 range.

Well, last Friday at Atlanta Dragway, I was able to change all of that. I Was firing off consistant 15.5s and 15.6s over 7 runs. I then let the car cool off and iced the intake for about an hour...I knew I could go lower. The intake was cool to the touch just before my last run where I put down a 15.302 @ 89.27 with a .685 r/t and a 2.3xx 60' time. Definately closer to the range I want the car to be in. I would reccommend the exhaust mod AND icing the intake for those looking to shave their e/t. Icing the intake is very effective, and I will now ice my intake down before each run.

Just thought you might be interested in this info. 15.3 is not a bad time with just a custom intake and a custom exhaust. No chip, no UDPs or anything else. Cool. I'm sure someone out there has done better with less, but Atlanta Dragway is a notoriously slow track.

i think the sad part here is that i am only .1 of a sec behind bone stock. i think your gain is good but just not enough to make changes.

all i need now is a lot of throttle and a whole lot of bottle

i wish i was a NitroFish

upsetclown, keep in mind, tracks differ, as do weather, elevation, and conditions. 15.3 in this Ga weather, at atlanta dragway, with those mods...is not bad at all...good job

Way to go John! Looks like you have a little more room to improve as well. On your 15.3 run you dropped a 2.3 60' and I've seen you run consistent 2.2's.

Look out 14's!

Thanks Burg! laugh Maybe 14s with a custom burned chip. I drove the piss out of the SVT to get to that time....the MTX-75 is pretty strong!

Now if I could just get out of that stupid ticket (see my post on the General board mad )

Remember, the Atlanta Dragway is at a high altitude and the times are "off" what many others are getting. A 15.3 at the Atlanta dragway in the summer could be the same as a 14.9 somewhere else.

I've always wanted to go to a sea level track in october or so when the humidity is down and the air temp is cooler at night. I wonder if the higher atmospheric pressure at sea level would get me into the 14s. I suppose it might on a cool evening.

For those that do not know, Atlanta Dragway is located high on the Georgia Piedmont, just south of the foothills of the Georgian Appalachains. Relatively high altitude. The air temp during my last run was approx 80 degrees with humidity near 90%...it had rained earlier in the afternoon, and the clouds were threatening all night. Hopefully I can continue to improve my skill and can post a lower time in the fall when temps and humidity are lower.

Sounds pretty good on that run.

I ran my best of 15.3, stock, on a hot night with the biggest freaking storm brewing. After that run, i left, and 10 minutes after leaving, it started to pour down. I plan on going, hopefully, tomorrow. I'll see if i can ice the intake and improve my time. Sounds like it worked for you.

I really don't think so man. Might be the driver, or maybe he got a lemon. But from what I've read and witnessed first hand, the tranny is a pretty solid unit. Now if I had 300+ horsepower hitting the ground, then maybe it would go up. But hey, what do I know. All I know is that I launched @ 4k with little slip, 18lbs of tire pressure, and powershifted without lifting the go pedal on 7 runs in a row and I have no signs of fatigue. This tranny is great.

Hey, if you grind gears, then you are going to break stuff.
