I really don't think so man. Might be the driver, or maybe he got a lemon. But from what I've read and witnessed first hand, the tranny is a pretty solid unit. Now if I had 300+ horsepower hitting the ground, then maybe it would go up. But hey, what do I know. All I know is that I launched @ 4k with little slip, 18lbs of tire pressure, and powershifted without lifting the go pedal on 7 runs in a row and I have no signs of fatigue. This tranny is great.
Hey, if you grind gears, then you are going to break stuff.
